Corny title? Yes, for sure. Sweet corn was the bait.
While fishing for grass carp on a Kyogi 15, I was surprised to land 5 blue catfish on sweet corn this week.
This is a very capable rod. Yes, a few fish snapped my line like I was using a Walmart Spider-Man kids rod, but that’s ok. I was using 1x Varivas 11.2 lb tippet in a 25 lb mono main line. No weight this time and a small Drennan float.
Dad was teasing me about using a “cane pole” but I schooled him with this setup. Call me grandma, dad! That free-falling corn was irresistible!

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.
The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
