I recently got the Keiryu Kids kit for my 4 year old daughter since she was starting to show interest in fishing with daddy. We hiked up to Lost Lake for a camping trip where I was hoping she could catch a brook trout or two. The fish didn't cooperate, but we had a great time camping and hiking around the lake. On the way home, we passed Boulder Creek and the water was very low and clear. So we climbed down the boulders until we came to a fishy looking pool. I helped her to cast a few times and then she lost interest. Next cast I hooked up and she ran over to bring him in. What fun to watch her and see the smile on her face! She handled the Kosansui 450 easily with 2 hands. And she liked the kids sized box with her own flies. Maybe next time we will try the float and some bait.

As age slows my pace, I will become more like the heron.
The hooks are sharp.
The coffee's hot.
The fish are slippery when wet.
